Creating a Youth Squad
This will inolve some serious thought before proceeding as expenses will be involved.
You will need to hire several staff, see
Staff Vacancies to help setup the Youth Academy properly.
You will need both a Youth Coach and Scout.
Once you have the Staff required, you are then able to instruct your Scout to do the job he is employed for. He is able to scout for several things, but one option is for
Youth players, and you will be offered several selections to help him search for the player you require. The more criteria you select, the longer the search may take.
When your Scout has decided he has searched long enough, he will return and place an email in your inbox asking for you to view his results. Select the link he offers to view the players he has discovered, and if you wish to add the player into your Academy, offer him the 70 day contract.
Training Youth Players
You are unable to be actively involved in the training of Youth players within the Youth Academy. Youth players will increase in their youth ratings over a period of time, if they are suitably able. Better Youth Coaches may increase the chances of seeing Youth players improve.
Promoting Youth Players
The Youth Academy will allow your Youth players to be promoted to the Senior Squad at any stage of the season. The Players being offered promotion MUST be 16 or over and have completed at least 21 days within the Academy. The only exception to this, is where the Player turns 18. Upon this birthday, they will be asked to leave the Academy and join the Senior squad.
If he accepts, he will be given a 21 day contract to which allows further negotiation for the yourself to take up with him. Generally, the longer a youth spends time in your academy, the better chance that specific youth has of promoting to your 1st team squad.
Youth players not of the required age or time within the Academy will only be offered 70 day contracts, which are renewable within the final 10 days of their current contract.
If you decide to renew a youth player’s contract you will have to wait an additional 21 days before you can mark them for promotion to the senior squad, even if they are already over 16 years old.
Please note : Youth players being left until the final day of their contract and being offered promotion to the senior squad may well not get the offer in time.
The youth academy has a limit of 8 players at any one time.
