Yahoo News: 'Ferrari's chief designer has been forced to defend his new car after it was instantly denounced as the ugliest Ferrari ever.' I thought F1 was car racing not a beauty contest.

Was quite taken back when I saw the nose on the new Caterham unveiled, but have got used to it after seeing a few more of this years cars. Bit confused as to why Mclaren are the only one bucking this funny nose trend

Ferrari have been a mere shadow of their former self. They used to fight it out with Mclaren but now they seem to struggle just to keep pace and its sad to see.
If this is what they need to do to win "ugly" then that's fine with me.

Winning is what matters. Beauty is the excuse used by those who don't win. To be absolutely honest it's been ages since there has been a truly good looking F1 car.

Mclaren are bucking the nose trend because their noses were lower already, and therefore they didn't have to have to adjust so much to the new safety rules on nose height. The other teams didn't want to change the heights of their suspension setups, hence the step.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how it plays out but I've got a feeling Mclaren has disadvantaged themselves. Might put them ahead of the curve for next season though, I imagine the FIA is already considering tweaking the rule with all the bad press the stepped noses are getting.

To be honest we will get used to them, but in my opinion i thought the ugliest car was the Mercedes. I thought it was the worst looking car last year, and they have out done themselves again this year.
The teams won't car about aesthetics, because they just want to win, but as a fan, and im going to my first grand prix this year, you want to see good looking cars going fast, rather than ugly cars going fast.
