 | Club manager, Ade Bishop, has called for fans, and his team, to remain patient and stay focused after reports that the club is under scrutiny, from taking a series of blows in recent days.
"We remain determined and committed than ever before and I urge fans to remain patient despite recent events", the newly appointed manager pleaded.
It has been just over two weeks since taking up his post as manager of Woking and confidence has been on an all time high after a successful 5 game win record in just 8 games.
"The squad knows exactly what they have to do, and the potential rewards, in getting the job done". Ade Bishop, recently proclaimed the Golden Wonder by fans after a series of wins after only a few days in power, shrugged off claims that his club has been plagued by a series of knock backs.
This run started after Woking travelled to Persia, on Thursday 12th June, for their 19th League game of the season. Despite efforts to raise his squad's confidence, Ade and the team took a vital blow after only 35 minutes of the game when they went down 1 - 0, which later became the one and only goal of the match.
Woking did well to hold off further offensive from current 2nd place holders Spartons, but couldn't do enough to claim a vital equalizer.
An additional blow came after key midfielder, Zeleny Spacek, was handed a red card, and a 2 match ban, during an out of character burst of frustration in direct view of the ref. The 30 year old Czech was shown no leniency after being sent to the showers for a cooling down.
"I am gutted. Whenever any player gets red carded he feels the stomach churning", commented Spacek. "The boss and I have had a good chat about the incident and I know where I went wrong", he added.
This means the Gunners will now be without the vital midfield link up, and will now miss the crucial first round of the IAG Cup on Saturday against Eros League's, Division One 7th place holders, Freakz United.
A further blow came after club physio, Harlan Diez, reported today that 28 year old wingback, Kivi Raunio, is making slow recovery after a serious ligament lateral sprain injury. The news will hamper manager Ade Bishop's plans of bringing his team back to full strength, in preparation for his teams next key game line up.
There was some good news today, however, when Gunners chairman, Tom Walpole, announced the employment of new head coach, 44 year old, Ewald Stohr, who replaces previous coach after sudden termination of his contract. It was believed that poor relations with key players lead to his departure, and the arrival of Stohr who brings with him a valuable set of essential skills to booster training and development.
"I am glad to join such an exciting team at such an exciting time in their career. I am very keen to get started and can't wait to meet the team", Stohr said during an earlier press meeting. |
