 | Having quit Spartak Nerys, leaving them finely placed in 11th position in the Premier League, It was time to move on to a real challenge.
Taking a team from Division 8 to the Premiership. And so it is that in the bowels of Aristotle I found Paddy United, a club that has been serially neglected by many a manager, except for the one who built 1,350 extra seats.
So, day one of the new challenge, I'm erecting the final corner stand to take my capacity to 6,800. The highest this club is likely to see for many seasons.
A wuick look through the club shows many challenges, most players contracts are under two seasons, which although great for getting rid of those I might not want, does mean that I face the possibility of losing too many players in the first couple of seasons and facing the sack, so renegotiating has become my primary objective for the rest of this season.
By the time that's over I'll know what to do with Rusty Macbain. A potential diamond in the mire, he should fetch a pretty penny, but you just don't want to sell those great players do you!
The coaching staff are a joke, so that will need to be improved, and a quick look at ticket prices and oversubscriptions tells me there is work to be done there.
So, all in all, a mammoth challenge, but all the tools to make the club great are there, it'll come down to how well I handle them. |
good luck with that lee, and thanks for the great crumbs competitions you run for us. Well, first match in and the tactics were obviously right, the players on the other hand....we completely dominated them 67% possession, 19 shots to their four, but in the one stat that mattered, they scored the only goal.
It will not be an easy task with this bunch of players. Today i sthe start of contract negotiations, fortunately there haven't been too many outrageous demands, but it's going to be a long process getting them all on board. ahhh, that's better, a 3-0 home win against the lowest ranked and lowest placed team in the league.
Should get morale up a bit, and even though I increased TP by 2, still an oversubscription of over 2,000 so there is plenty to work with here. After negotiating with the 16 players that I either a) wanted to keep or b) had MHW clauses, I've managed to negotiate all but one onto long term contracts with a wage bill slightly lower than we were previously on.
I'm now turning my attentions to the squad fillers, I don't really want them, but I've suffered from low squad numbers in previous jobs. It is a lot harder to offer these players something because you know you don't really want them!
Hopefully should be appointing an assistant manager today, not great, rated 19, but it's better than my current crop of backroom staff and should help in other areas too.
for the last home game I increased the TP by a further 1 and got an oversub of 900 odd. It was against a higher ranked team so I might let it settle for another game before increasing again, what with the new stand being only 12 days away, I don't want to scare the punters off to the point where there's none left to fill it. Perhaps most importantly, I'm well on track to end this season in the black, having negotiated wages down to a level where, if I can increase TP to the right level, I will be breaking even by season 11.
Still undecided whether I should sell Macbain though. He's a star in the making, but he could buy me two players. Register or login to add a comment |
