I will now be starting a seasonal blog after each season about my team straightedge in Phoenix.

Last season possition: 2nd Div 6

The merge brought alot of excitment back into IAG this season making the game more challanging for managers to win titles and gain promotions so I didnt even think I stood a chance of gaining promotion this season, So I set my target as a top 6 finish.

DIV 5:

The season started off well agnest my nemasis yamonos on match day one picking up my first ever point agenst him in a 1-1 draw followed by a string of wins untill a little bump in the road on matchday 9 away to Birmz Zulus 1875 which came abit of a shock to me.

I drew and won alot of the next games (I think that most of my draws were a upset really as I really should be turning aload of them into wins) and my next loss didnt come untill game 27 up agenst a very good Tim Town United who was really starting a fight for 3rd along side me and Gerges Heights FC 2nd, I lost the game 2-0 away and I had some bad thoughts about not even getting promotion (although I didnt mind too much as I had set myself a top 6 finish)

Then I won all my other game up untill 3 games left where the top 3 looked like this:

1st Liverpoolbulgar.. 87
2nd Yomanos 86
3rd Straightedge 85

A point from 1st to 2nd and a point from 2nd to me... the season looked so close to call.

I won my next game while yomanos slipped up so I took 2nd and then to the last game of the season and the top 2 looked like this.

Nothing to seperate us at all and looked to be a photo finish.

First to liverpoolburlgar's game: He had a tough test agenst Nike FC and didnt just need a win... He needed a big win as my game was a easy one, but he ended up drawing 1-1 which opened the door wide for me.

Now for me: 3-0 was the score at the end of the day and a very confortable win for me.

I have been in charge of straightedge for 3 seasons now getting 3 promotions and this being my first league title. This is how the top 3 ended

LEAGUE CUP:

I didnt have much expectation on myself this years league cup as the merge brought more competition in this years league cup, I must say all my games were easy up untill round 4 where I drew home agnest premier league team Altostone. Things were looking grim for me as Altostone is a top 10 team in phoenix prem, so set up a counter attacking team and tryed to leave as many men back as possible to try and break up there play and leave no gaps in my defence.

All the goals were scored in the second half and after 75mins I was 2-1 ahead, the 90th min came up and it looked all to be a historical victory for me but Altostone pulled it back on me and scored in the 90th min to make it 2-2, nothing really much to say about extra time as there were no goals so as you can tell the game went to a lottery of the pen shootout. (I have never lost a pen shootout during my IAG career) So I felt rather conferdent if any of my games go to pens and yes I did it.... I won 4-3 on pens to take my club to round 5 of the league cup where I lost to another prem team, away to AFC Archway 2nd and I lost 3-1.

IAG SUPERCUP:

Kinda the same story as my league cup run, a easy lead up to round 5 of the IAG Supercup where I drew at home a tough Atlas prem team, FC Priority. It was 2-2 after 50 mins and stayed like that till the 90th min final whistle so into extra time we went, now unlike my league cup run There was 1 goal in extra time and it fell to my striker Krebs to take a 3-2 lead on the 99th min, so it was defending time and defend well we did up untill the final blast from the ref and there it was...

I couldnt believe my eyes, I beat 2 prem teams in 1 season so i already had exceeded all my expectations.

Needless to say I got knocked out in round 6 away to Douala Red Stars.

So there we have it folks, I won my very first league title and made it to round 5 of the league cup and round 6 of the IAG cup. How can I top that? Only time will tell, Bring on season 25.

Div 4: Top 6 finish
League cup: Round 5
IAG cup: Round 5
additional: I would hope to have enough cash to add a new stand in season 25, If not then I will in season 26, I have no need for new players via the transfer market so I will be saving for a new stand for my fans.
